How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

Through my different roles as strategy consultant, chief procurement officer, COO, chief digital officer at SAP and Chief Innovation Officer at Celonis (market leader for process analytics, process mining), I have had the chance to learn a lot about emerging technologies, software, re-organization, post-merger-integration and leading large business organizations with more than 500 people. I am excited by the chances I have had to gain deep insights and practice by leading organizations. In 2019 I started exploring the startup ecosystem for process mining technology solutions, and the opportunities faced by a fast-growing company with a market cap (series-c funding) of 2.5bn. I was also writing more blogs and articles, plus I got invited as keynote speaker for conferences on AI, blockchain, supply chain, procurement, finance and shared services. The exchange and networking with executives around the world gave me deep insights in a lot of content areas, but also deepened my cultural knowledge and opened my horizon. In my current role as global partner at BCG my goal is to support clients defining and implementing digital transformation strategies by leveraging market insights, realized client success stories and my own experience.

What topic areas are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about emerging technology, which can help the world run better and improve people’s lives. This includes AI, big data, analytics, blockchain, IoT, 5G and process mining. I focus on supply chain, procurement, share services and finance across all industries and geographies.

Which influencers influence within those key topics?

There are many brilliant minds within our community that are inspiring, that includes (but not limited to) Ronald van Loon, Kirk Borne, Paula Piccard, Harold Sinnott, Kash Sirinanda, Mike Hudema, Jean-Baptiste Lefevre, Spiros Magaris, and Danielle Guzman. There is also a bunch of brilliant minds who are not active on social media, but are equally influential in shaping my thoughts.

Outside of key topics, who else influences you?

Every day I have the opportunity to engage with someone who enriches my thinking and impacts my perspectives. First – besides my family and friends, I work with the most talented global community of individuals at my company. Second, I meet impressive individuals with our customers, partners and suppliers. I read a lot: newspapers, magazines, books – focusing on economy, politics and non-fiction as well as the areas I am interested in.

How would you describe your offline influence?

Most of my passions outside of work are related to meeting interesting people, spending time with my family, reading and writing. I am also an advisor for other software companies and NGOs focusing on education of people, like ISCEA (International Supply Chain Education Alliance).
