Dharmesh has 30 years experience in launching ground breaking and innovative solutions for banks such as the first roll out of windows apps across a branch network (1990), vision of single customer view (1992), concept of franchising banks (Banking as a service) - 1996. Worlds first online insurance site (1997), world first multi-device banking (1998), worlds first secure multi-channel voting system. He then went on to found one of the first low/no code platforms for banking which he sold to Temenos in 2012 where he went on to be their first Chief Digital Officer.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

30 years experience in developing and delivering ground breaking and innovative solutions in banking/technology. Have been a writer for Computer Weekly and other tech journals and now Fintech Futures. Extensive network in banking / technology having held senior positions at Lloyds, NatWest and then co-founded and sold two startups.

What challenges are brands facing in this space?

Customer adoption / retention. Pace of change. Breadth of new technology affecting change. Staff retention (war for talent) Impending recession

What do you think the future holds in this space?

A change in banking that is similar to Telco’s, a bigger split between manufacturing / distribution. Greater innovation in financial products, many driven by Web3. However a recession will slow down the pace of change which has been relentless. Open data will drive greater innovation creating more cross industry solutions.

Revolut, Coinbase, Paypal, Stripe, to name a few.

What are your passions outside of work?

Ultra-marathon running (completed Marathon Des Sables, several 100m mile races) Paddleboard/kayaking, cycling. Football – avid Liverpool FC fan.
Reading (mainly non-fiction on tech futures and business books)
Food – both eating out and cooking (indian, thai, mexican, chinese, italian, sri-lankan…)
Travelling – been to >50 countries.
NED / Advisor for 2 crypto companies, 2 proptechs and a few fintechs DIY / Gardening (Ambassador for Ryobi)
