How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

Having studied astrophysics at university, I entered the world of software engineering, which included working for the European Space Agency and in electronic warfare. I then started to teach business people about IT and over the years this bubbled up to advising senior executives on strategic matters. On the way, I wrote over 100 articles for the FT, plus a few books.

I have now worked in 40 countries across multiple sectors, including central government and the European Commission.

What sub-topics are you most passionate about?

I am most interested in the future of society and the planet. I believe that leadership is a lynchpin in this respect, but it will require a radical shift from the leadership approach of the last three centuries.

This takes me into the worlds of anthropology, neuroscience, biology, technology, and human performance, which I and my clients find very interesting and relevant to today’s challenges.

Who influences you within these topics?

Any forward thinker: Seth Godin comes to mind and John Hagel is the closest I have encountered to my radical (yet grounded in reality!) perspectives.

What do you think the future holds in this space?

Covid has drawn a line under the industrial era organisational approach. Thus transformation is a major theme – sustainability, DEI, hybrid work, mental wellness are all relevant subtopics, thus they will continue to drive the conversation.

If a brand wanted to work with you, which activities would you be most interested in collaborating on?

Podcasts, webinars, whitepaper, speaking opportunities, product innovation, and video interviews.

What are your passions outside of work?

In keeping with the transformational model I promote, I am passionate about movement. This includes running (former track sprinter), martial arts, dancing, and parkour.

What would be the best way for a brand to contact you?

Via email or via my website.
