How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

I have a unique background of exercise science and HR that has allowed me to transition from performance excellence on the ball fields to performance excellence in board rooms. My first job was an Office Coordinator at a law firm. After several orgs and roles later, I founded Jumpstart:HR in 2011.

What sub-topics are you most passionate about?

My mission is to see people perform well at work. Everything about it. The cultures people thrive in, the leadership that motivates them, the growth and development journey, and the personal management required to be the best. I love it and I love the intersection of this and technology.

Who influences you within these topics?

Dave Ulrich’s “HR From The Outside In” has been foundational over the last decade. Learning from great bosses and bad ones, and having a heart for seeing people thrive and excel. A few other personal influencers are my mentors. Current voices I enjoy are Laurie Ruettimann, Minda Harts, Torin Ellis, and Enrique Rubio.

What do you think the future holds in this space?

Companies will need to lean into treating employees as individuals as opposed to “resources.” The more nuanced you are able to be in your leading and development of people, the greater chance you’ll retain and grow your best workers. HR Tech is critical in this pursuit because it allows you to create a culture at scale and translate real ROI.

What brands are leading the way in this space?

Jumpstart:HR, UKG, SAP.

Podcast sponsorship, speaking opportunities, white papers, consulting/analyst opportunities.

What are your passions outside of work?

Family, traveling, comedy, tech, investing.

What would be the best way for a brand to contact you?

Email.
