Lisa Ventura is an award-winning cyber security consultant and currently looks after communications at the UK Cyber Security Council. The Council was launched in 2021 by the UK government to be the “voice of the cyber security” profession in the UK. She is also the Founder of Cyber Security Unity, a community organisation that is dedicated to bringing individuals and companies together globally who actively work in cyber security to help combat the growing cyber threat. She has over 10 years of experience in cyber security and is passionate about raising awareness of the growing cyber threat to prevent cyber-attacks.
Lisa has recently featured in Onalytica's Who is Who in Cybersecurity report.
How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?
I entered the cyber security industry in 2009 following a successful career in the entertainment industry working with high-profile TV and Radio personalities including Chris Tarrant, the host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” in the UK. I have built up my knowledge and credibility in the cyber security space over a number of years which I utilise extensively today.
What sub-topics are you most passionate about?
Mental health, stress/burnout, imposter syndrome, women in cyber, the cyber skills gap, and business.
Who influences you within these topics?
I have a wide range of people who influence me in cyber security including Lisa Forte, Troy Hunt, Professor Lisa Short, and Ian Thornton-Trump.
What do you think the future holds in this space?
Cyber security as an industry is only going to grow as the amount of cyber-attacks increases, and it is vital we have a skilled workforce in the industry to combat the growing cyber threat. It is this that I am most passionate about.
