How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?
I’ve worked in financial services for over 30 years, starting with a super regional bank and then a regional bank. Over that time I have had the opportunity to meet with hundreds of experts in finserv and fintech. I was a very early adopter of social media and somehow found myself in the “fintech mafia.”
What topic areas are you most passionate about?
I enjoy all things fintech. What excites me the most is the union of finserv and fintech. I’m also a big believer that financial services should be doing more to engage consumers with relevancy and understand the emotional aspects of financial well-being. The role the bank or credit union can play to demonstrate advocacy is remarkable, particularly in a high tech, high touch environment.
Which influencers influence you within those key topics?
Ron Shevlin, Jim Marous and Brett King. All masters of their domain.
Outside of your key topics who else influences you?
Bill Gates for his humility and compassion as demonstrated to his Foundation.
How would you describe your offline influence?
I take a very consultative approve to engaging my audiences. I listen and learn and then respond.
If a brand wanted to work with you, what offline / online activities would you be most interested in?
Happy to collaborate on all fronts. I’m an omni-channel kind of guy.
What’s your best source of information for getting ahead of a story?
I study patterns via social media to measure chatter. From there I do my own research and then discuss the trends with influencers.
What brands have you worked with?
Geezeo, Procurity, Country For Kids, CUInsight, StrategyCorps, Everwise.
Which non-paid activities would you be keen to take part in if the opportunity raised your profile or delivered value to your audience?
I would be willing to co-create long form content (blogs, white papers, ebooks, research), provide a quote for content or news article, share / create a social post, speak at or attend an event, participate in a podcast or webinar or online chat, write a product review yes or create video content.
What are your passions outside of work?
Active boater and traveller.
What businesses / organisations are you affiliated to?
I am Chairperson of the Board for the Center For Child and Family Services. I am an advisor to Blip, a bill pay fintech. This is an addition to my FT role as Director of Strategic Initiatives for StrategyCorps.
What would be the best way for a brand to contact you?
The best way to get in touch is via my email bryan.clagett@strategycorps.com.
