Thomas Harrer is Chief Technology Officer for IBM Systems Hardware Sales Europe. He helps clients across Europe to evolve their infrastructure architecture. He is an advocate known for his forward thinking and leadership in Artificial Intelligence, Data, Blockchain as well as mission critical Core Systems and hybrid cloud solutions. Thomas Harrer is an IBM Distinguished Engineer.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

I have a computer science background and shaped IT solutions in the last years. Being able to add innovation to existing structures has become key. Besides growing in the technical skills, I also grew my presentation skills to become a trusted expert.

What topic areas are you most passionate about?

Data & Innovation

Which influencers influence you within those key topics?

In the last year, I worked with great influencers like Ludmila Morozova-Buss, Spiros Margaris, Sally Eaves, Neil Cattermull, Stéphane Nappo but get also inspiration from many other influencers around.

Outside of your key topics who else influences you?

I take big inspirations from reading books and articles. One author who recently influenced my thinking is Yuval Noah Harari. I have also been inspired by authors of the past, including literature and philosophy.

How would you describe your offline influence?

I have been given keynote presentation on events, between 50 – 300 participants about architecting the future and about modern data protection.

Speaking opportunities, video interviews.

Good sources are RSS feeds and Twitter groups
