How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?
I have been working to build data analysis pipelines in the public cloud for many years. My focus is in support of genomic research for improvements in human health. Before that, I worked to build and optimize on-premises data warehouses and data marts. I’ve run my own consultancy for 11 years. Previously I worked for Microsoft.
What do you think the future holds in this space?
Because of the complexity of distributed, scalable solution architectures, along with the increasing demand for data accountability, privacy and security there are many challenges. Customers benefit from patterns and best practice guidance around common solution architectures. The advent of ‘well-architected’ guides from AWS, Azure, and GCP is a good start. These guides should be more malleable and visual in the future so that customers can understand and use them more quickly and effectively.
