Marius Sandbu is a Cloud expert who has been focusing on building company-wide competency/expertise on Public Cloud and looking over the technical initiatives on Public Cloud including building managed services.
His expertise goes across multiple platforms such as Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure. SME across multiple areas such as End-User Computing, Infrastructure, Governance, Security, Cloud-native, Data Ops, and Hybrid Solutions.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?
I do not consider myself an expert in anything, given the rapid pace of development within the IT industry I consider myself a decent learner in this space. Been working for over 15 years in the IT industry, with the majority of those on Public Cloud-related projects, started early and have always been agnostic when it comes to platform or technology. I’ve been fortunate to work with projects across most ecosystems and vendors.
I’ve also been the author of several books related to networking and system management and have been blogging for more than 10 years on topics such as Cloud and Security and have been a speaker at several conferences across the world.
Started out as a helpdesk technician and worked my way through various roles and then to leading the public cloud initiatives for one of the largest MSPs in the Nordics, and now working as a Cloud evangelist for Sopra Steria.
What do you think the future holds in this space?
More Hybrid based services! seeing that many of the cloud providers are building new hybrid services that are based on cloud-native workloads. Also seeing that new edge services will also be containerized as well given the cloud providers a platform to easily roll out new features when needed.
Given the development and initiatives that are ongoing within CNCF, I guess we will also see more focus on that ecosystem from the different cloud providers. Where the cloud providers are eager to integrate their ecosystem and tooling into a cloud-native platform to make it easy for developers to consume their services.
