He has been acknowledged throughout his career for demonstrating rational decision making; weighing up facts and parlaying the most pertinent information.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

My first job was a data warehousing project which probably was my country’s first mammoth data warehouse. This job involved work related to databases and programming. I was too particular about exception handling and validation in my programming. Gradually I realized that the absence of validation can provide me access to websites and databases within. Slowly I started analysing websites for their robustness and the process became a puzzle solving exercise for me and I started learning by myself. At that time there were not many tools available and each website taught me the unique way to penetrate it. I do remember I failed many times and became successful sometimes and could access the treasure which was nothing but the data.

My next job was in a Bank where information security was very important. Slowly I moved on and received specialized exposure in networking, IT audit and risk management. I strongly feel that a successful information security professional should be good in all of these areas and should be able to solve riddles. In next few years I found myself as an information security professional due to exposures in underlying areas but largely due to its challenging nature.

What topic areas are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity around people and processes are my passion. I love to write and talk about the cloud security. Data protection and Privacy are other areas I love to talk about.

Which influencers influence you within those key topics?

There are many to name them all, but to name a few I would say Shira Rubinoff, Bob Carver, Scott Schober, Shivangi Nadkarni

Outside of your key topics what other topics are you interested in?

My role models are: in banking – Samit Ghosh; entrepreneur- Ratan Tata; saint – Mother Teresa.

How would you describe your offline influence?

I love to learn. Today a successful CISO is not just a protector but necessarily a lifelong learner. A CISO can add value to the organisation only if they learn continuously in today’s changing world. These learning can help CISOs to fully understand the industry and create a cyber vision for their organisations.

If a brand wanted to work with you, what offline / online activities would you be most interested in?

Learning and writing are my passions. I can collaborate in lots of ways.

What’s your best source of information for getting ahead of a story?

It is said that learning is the superpower of superpowers and continuous learning motivates and inspires me more than anything else and helps me carry out my own research.

What brands have you worked with?

I have mostly worked with Banking and Finance Companies which varies from Government sector to private, small to large, public to private with different types of customer segments.

Which non-paid activities would you be keen to take part in if the opportunity raised your profile or delivered value to your audience?

I would be keen to co-create long form content (blogs, white papers, ebooks, research), provide a quote for content or news article, share / create a social post, speak at or attend an event, participate in a podcast, webinar or online chat, write a product review or create video content.

What are your passions outside of work?
