Bio:

Axel Troike is President at Grandite, Quebec, Canada - the supplier of the SILVERRUN tools for business process and data modeling and provider of related services. With over 20 years of management experience in international consulting, Mr. Troike also performs mandates as an independent Executive Consultant and Senior Project Manager. He has conducted more than 100 projects in 8 countries at the intersection of compliance, business and IT. More recently, Mr. Troike has specialized in helping businesses to achieve compliance with applicable data protection regulations such as GDPR.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

In my second job, I had the opportunity of working with more experienced colleagues in a consulting firm specialized on auditing client organizations for regulatory compliance. From there on, I have never stopped learning…

What topic areas are you most passionate about?

Data Privacy, Business Architecture (= conceptual data modeling + business process modeling + organizational modeling)

Which influencers influence you within those key topics?

There is no single person that I would consider to be my mentor or influencer. I reserve at least one hour per day to read about topics such as Data Privacy, Business Architecture, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality – sourced from blogs and online papers as well as email alerts.

Outside of key topics, who else influences you?

Again, no particular person. I try to be a good student of history regarding societal, organizational and political development – since managing a country and managing an enterprise have a lot in common.

How would you describe your offline influence?

My offline influence primarily stems from consulting mandates at the intersection of compliance, business and IT – in more recent years with focus on advising and auditing client organizations in the realm of Data Privacy which necessitates to have a deep understanding of areas such as Master Data Management and Data Governance.

I strongly believe that my international experience contributes to the value that I can bring to my clients, e.g. when advising about Data Privacy I recommend to adhere to the high standard of EU’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), as the last years have shown that all major regulations from non-EU countries / areas converge towards GDPR.

If a brand wanted to work with you, which activities would you be most interested in collaborating on?

I have worked with a few brands to varying extents in webinars, whitepapers and consulting mandates with a common client. However, it is important for me to remain neutral, i.e. my advice to the audience or to clients should not depend on a particular product or brand. For one exception where you may consider me biased: The SILVERRUN Business Architecture Tools developed and offered by my own company Grandite in Canada.

What’s your best source of information for getting ahead of a story?

As previously mentioned, my daily routine of reading articles from changing groups of experts in the field helps me to get ahead. However, part of learning from history is not to follow trends, but to emphasize approaches that are not dependent on hyping technologies and buzzwords.

Which non-paid activities would you be keen to take part in if the opportunity raised your profile or delivered value to your audience?

I would be interested in co-creating long form content or a social post, providing a quote for content or news article post. I am also open to speak at or attend an event, participate in a podcast, webinar or an online chat.

What are your passions outside of work?

Brain teasers of mathematical / geometrical nature.

What would be the best way for a brand to contact you?

By email: axel.troike@grandite.com
