Chris Skinner is known as one of the most influential people in technology, financial markets and Fintech through his blog, the Finanser.com. His latest book is "Doing Digital", sharing the lessons of digital transformation through interviews with the biggest banks in the world. He chairs Nordic Future Innovate, is a non-executive director of 11:FS and on the advisory boards of various firms. Mr. Skinner has been an advisor to the United Nations, the White House, the World Bank and the World Economic Forum, a visiting lecturer with Cambridge University and a TEDx speaker. He is co-founder of The Portrait Foundation, and a children's author of the Captain Cake series.

How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

Worked for tech firms in selling, consulting and marketing to FSIs for years: everything from office and branch automation, trading, insurance, commercial banking and more.

What sub topics are you most passionate about?

Anything tech in finance.

What challenges are brands facing in this space?

Old brands have little idea how to digitally connect. New brands have a low level of trust because they are new.

What do you think the future holds in this space?

Massive change: we need new products and new thinking based upon AI and then Quantum … times will always be changing.

What brands are leading the way in this space?

Main ones I discuss? New world: Stripe, Square, Adyen, Klarna, Alipay, WeChat Pay, NuBank. Old world: DBS, ING, BBVA, JPMC, CMB.

If a brand wanted to work with you, which activities would you be most interested in collaborating on?

Anything that crosses palm with silver.

What are your passions outside of work?

Children, comics, animals, jogging.
