She holds postgraduate degrees in AI and Cognitive Science. Jen has authored 3 books in data and artificial intelligence has been featured on CBS Interactive and the BBC as well as other well-known podcasts, such as Digital Disrupted, Run As Radio and her own Make Your Data Work webinar series.

Jen has also given keynotes for colleges, universities, as well as donating her expertise to charities and non-profits as a Non-Executive Director. How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?

I have thrived on hard work and I have achieved success by delivering high-risk, visible projects which nobody else would touch. These projects teach you so much about people, processes, and leadership.

What sub-topics are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about Diversity, Equality and Inclusion with a focus on empowering people of all minority genders.

Who influences you within these topics?

Sometimes it is the underestimated people who achieve the things that nobody can imagine. I like to see people being successful whom people don’t expect to be successful. Great things happen when we empower other people to be greater than they, and other people, expect.

What challenges are brands facing in this space?

A big factor in digital transformation and AI implementation is simply a loss of momentum. There are too many digital initiatives that started with great enthusiasm and gusto, only to collapse as the rubber hits the road.
Often, digital transformation include AI, but the initiatives are crippled by ageing technology infrastructure, bad business processes, poor customer vision. The initiatives can be prevented by a poor culture and misaligned values, often wrought by a mistrust of leadership.

What do you think the future holds in this space?

5G will revolutionize telecommunications, taking us to a hyperconnected and interconnected network supporting the digital world. 5G will bring wider bandwidths, high speeds, and increased opportunities for connectivity. It will provide higher qualities of data transmission, supporting AI to improve and innovate in services for consumers and businesses alike. Customers demand, speed simplicity, scalability, & flexibility, and enhanced connectivity will lead to the convergence of services.

What brands are leading the way in this space?

Tableau/Salesforce are focusing on the future of work by concentrating on the customer and remote working. Also, Databricks are empowering businesses to use data science fully. Finally, AWS are supporting innovation by supporting their customers to produce business-focused cloud architectures that allow businesses to adopt cloud computing in a resilient and scaleable manner.
