Ollie Brazier
Founder of Oxygen Media
I currently run Oxygen Media, a performance, results driven digital marketing agency based in Auckland, New Zealand. We have a small dedicated team of digital strategists driven to help and grow our client’s online presence. I've been working in the field of social media marketing ever since I left high school and have crafted my trade over the last 6 years working for some of the world’s biggest and most recognisable brands as well as helping small local businesses with driving their business through digital media.
How did you get to become an expert in your key topics?
I took an internship working in the USA for a media company spending time working in Canada and Sydney for the same business. I’m completely self-taught and have developed my unique strategies by working and testing numerous campaigns with hundreds of brands. I started contracting for businesses as a social media marketer when I was 18 and have worked tirelessly to deliver winning results for my clients over the past 6 years.
What topic areas are you most passionate about?
The centre of my work in social media marketing focuses on lead generation. I work with a lot of SAAS and service-based businesses. However, I believe e-commerce shows the greatest potential where social media marketing is concerned and I’m constantly adapting and testing theories and strategies to perfect this area of online business. It excites me seeing the results that can be generated from e-commerce and something I want to work with on a greater scale.
Which influencers influence you within those key topics?
Jeff Bullas & Neil Patel are two individuals I have followed for years in a digital marketing space. Their knowledge to me is unrivalled in social media marketing and SEO respectively.
Outside of your key topics who else influences you?
Richard Branson to me is the ultimate entrepreneur. Grant Cardone is an absolute sales machine, I had the pleasure of seeing Grant live recently, his energy, knowledge and prowess in sales is incredibly inspirational. Gurbaksh Chahal transformed my entrepreneurial thinking after I read his book “The Dream” and showed me that anything is possible. Christian Guzman also influences and inspires me in a massive way and has done for years from where he started to where he is now is mind blowing.
What are your passions outside of work?
I’m currently working on a number of side projects that have been in the making for years and will be launching very soon. I don’t get a lot of time off right now and work 7 days a week. My down time is an hour at the gym every day of the week. I once read the quote, grind in your 20’s, build in your 30’s, chill in your 40’s. I live by this mantra.
How would you describe your offline influence?
I currently give opportunities to individuals who are looking for a break in the digital marketing world. I constantly work with post-graduates and other individuals hungry and eager to learn. I regularly attend networking events and collaborate with other business owners in a number of ways
If a brand wanted to work with you, what offline / online activities would you be most interested in?
I’m always open to podcasts, audio interviews, written interviews or guest insights in any field to do with digital marketing, entrepreneurship or general business.
Which non-paid activities would you be keen to take part in if the opportunity raised your profile or delivered value to your audience?
Anything that helps to grow my presence online or Oxygen’s. I love working with and helping other business owners propel their online reach.
What’s your best source of information for getting ahead of a story?
I’m regularly checking LinkedIn and other social media in general every few hours. There are some great sites like Social Media Examiner and Einstein Marketer with some incredible writers with masses of experience.
What brands have you worked with?
Honda is my most recognizable and biggest brand I work with to date. I delivered a social media marketing strategy to Groupon’s sales team in Sydney a couple of years back. I’ve worked with brands in every industry imaginable including a number of other small and local businesses. All of the businesses I work with can be seen on Oxygen’s website.
What would be the best way for a brand to contact you?
Via email or through Oxygen’s website would be the easiest. People can also always can get in touch with me through my accounts on Twitter and LinkedIn.
